The National Digital library of India is a project under Ministry
of Human Resource Development, India. The objective is to collect and
collate metadata and provide full text index from several national and
international digital libraries, as well as other relevant sources.
NDLI has been developed by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. It is single window platform that collects resources from premier learning institutions in India and abroad and other relevant sources. It is open to all at free of cost.Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find out the right resource with least effort and in minimum time.

Scope and Content
The platform offers educational materials catering to users at all levels, from primary school to postgraduate studies. These resources include books, articles, theses, manuscripts, audio lectures, and video lectures. The subject areas covered are broad and include computer science, information technology, general works, philosophy, psychology, religion, and social sciences. The e-content is available through a unified access point, offering resources from various platforms:
- NPTEL: Over 10,000 video lectures
- NCERT: Books in Hindi and English for primary to 12th grade
- INFLIBNET: More than 38,000 theses by Indian researchers
- Digital Library of India (DLI): Over 500,000 global classical books
- LibriVox: Over 200,000 audio books, and more
