Significance of gender equality - Talk by Mallika Sarabhai at Nirmala College Muvattupuzha

A talk was organized by Nirmala College,Muvattupuzha to raise awareness about the importance of gender equality among the youth. The keynote speaker, Mallika Sarabhai (Vice Chancellor, Kalamandalam University,Thrissur )  who's  an acclaimed Indian classical dancer, choreographer, actress, writer, and social activist  underscored the importance of gender equality in society. She emphasized that women should aspire towards independence in all areas rather than simply relying on men.

 

Nirmala College Muvattupuzha Granted Autonomous Status by UGC

The University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi  has granted autonomous status to Nirmala College Muvattupuzha,Ernakulam Dist,Kerala State. This recognition signifies the institution's excellence in higher education evidenced by 67 ranks achieved across various programs, high pass rates, notable research accomplishments, and overall academic excellence. 

The college's A++ grade, 3.73 grade points, secured through National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation and its ranking in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF),  were instrumental in attaining this distinction. 

With an enrollment of  more than three thousand students , Nirmala College continues to be a beacon of quality education. The college is now awaiting autonomous approval from MG University, Kottayam.

During the commendation meeting chaired by College Manager Rev. Dr. Pious Malekandam, it was highlighted that the college's next objective is to elevate its status to that of a deemed  university. 

Additionally, Rev. Dr. Paul Parathazham, Secretary of Kothamangalam Diocese Higher Education, College Principal Prof. Dr. KV Thomas, Vice Principal Prof. Emmanuel A.J., College Bursar Rev. Dr. Jestin K. Kuriakose, and College Autonomous Coordinator Dr.Sony Kuriakose  also spoke at the meeting.
