Chandrayaan-3 Model Displayed in the Reference Section of Nirmala College Central Library

 Chandrayaan 3

A model of Chandrayaan-3, built to the exact dimensions of the actual spacecraft, was displayed in the reference section of the Central Library at Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha. Designed the model  by the Department of Physics, this exhibit highlights India's advancements in space exploration and lunar technology.

Chandrayaan-3 is designed to demonstrate India's capability in landing and operating on the Moon. The mission comprises an indigenous Lander Module (LM), a Propulsion Module (PM), and a Rover. The lander and rover are equipped with advanced scientific instruments, including a Langmuir probe to measure plasma density variations near the lunar surface, a seismometer, and a laser retro-reflector array provided by NASA.

The primary objective of Chandrayaan-3 is to develop and showcase critical technologies essential for interplanetary missions. The Propulsion Module plays a crucial role in transporting the lander and rover configuration to a 100 km lunar orbit. Additionally, it carries the Spectro-polarimetry of Habitable Planet Earth (SHAPE) payload, which conducts spectral and polarimetric observations of Earth from the lunar orbit.

This model serves as an educational resource, providing library users with an opportunity to explore India's contributions to space science and technology.
